Senior SQL DBA
Location: Winston-Salem/Greensboro, NC
Overall Description: Reporting to the Director of Database Administration, the SQL Server DBA will be will be part of a small team of DBA’s responsible for the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of all aspects of the enterprise wide database environment including but not limited to database design and modeling, ETL, standardization, security, replication and backup/recovery. This position will require an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server from both the application and the server standpoints in a Microsoft development environment. The applicant must have a solid full-time background of database administration utilizing SQL Server 2005/2008, with a minimum of 5+ years experience in MS SQL Server database environments.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Work with development team members on SQL scripting and writing stored procedures
- Maintain standards and documentation
- Conduct application performance analysis and implement improvements
- Monitor, resolve, and optimize database performance issues for all strategic application platforms
- Proactively manage database capacity issues and provide solutions
- Maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
- React to problems quickly, performing technical troubleshooting and consultation to Operations and other team members
- Experience in SQL partitioning, Database Mirroring, SQL 2008 SSIS and Reporting Services.
- Design and implement ETL Processes using SSIS a plus
- Knowledge of Automated Clearing House (ACH) processing a plus
- Experience with SQL 2008 R2 a plus
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years experience in SQL Server 2005/2008 enterprise environment.
- Experience with developing robust normalized database designs for secure Web and Windows applications.
- Experience with clustered, fault tolerant, high-availability environments.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling tools such as ERWin.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, SSIS
- Experience with VB.Net or C# a plus.
- Experience with 3rd party performance monitoring tools
- Good communication and documentation skills.
No on call the first 3 months. Light on call possible after 3 months
